DO NOT give up what makes you happy to make someone else happy ---it only results in two unhappy people! I have 3 wonderful kids and a more wonderful wife and i tell them so daily. By any account, I take care of their needs and always put them before my hobby, period. No one goes without because of my, trucks, boats, tools, etc. My wife knows that my business is stressful and understands that going for a ride or working in the garage is the way I decompress and leave work at work. your best bet is not to give up your hobby but make sure that your responsibilities of a husband / father are covered. if they are, it is your bride that needs an attitude adjustment and you should be sure to tell her so. Consider her position if you have power wagon parts under your bed and 20 parts trucks in the yard. if your hobby actually impacts your finances in a meaningful way she might not be wrong. wives will revert to mothering their husbands if they act like children - don't provide them with the opportunity....
