Truck most likely has the later 4 pinion Dodge Corporate 8&3/4" third members instead of the earlier and weaker 2 pinion type found on the Military 1/2 ton and early 3/4 ton WC's. 4.89 R&P sets were used in military and civilian applications. Hard to tell if the front axle differential is Identical to rear one. The 54-56 Dodge trucks were known as the "Funtional Design series" as opposed to the earlier "Pilot-house Series and later "Power-Giant" series.
