I'm pretty sure you mean 30", not 30 lbs of vacuum. Normal air pressure is less than 15 psi, so there's no way you can get more vacuum than that. Most vacuum gauges read in inches, which refers to inches of mercury, if you had an old-fashioned mercury manometer. Even so, 30" is way high also. That's basically equal to normal air pressure at sea level. Somewhere around 15" is more typical for intake vacuum on an engine. Are you sure your gauge is working right?
