So after a long ordeal to find out why the engine wouldnt go, and finding other issues along the way, yesterday I rebuilt another carb and stuck it on. She fired right up! Whooo Hooo! But that was all the time I had to spend on it yesterday. This morning I went to the shop, and wowser, it even started up again. I cleared away things that were in the way, and backed her out of the shop. Drove up to my house and went in and told my 10 year old daughter Claire to look out the window. She and her friend rushed to the window and let out squeals of excitement. We all went out and drove up and down the driveway (1000 feet or so). At the end of the driveway, rather than doing a 10 point turn, I swung around in the field along side the driveway and about 1/2 way through the loop I felt that sinking sensation. All of the rain we have had has made the field really soft. As we came to a stop, with rooster tails of mud flying it was time to test the 4 wheel drive. I got out and spun the brand new Dan Shockly hubs and put it in 4wd. Out she came without another spun wheel! We drove around in the field on the other dide of the driveway, its dryer, and then back up to the house to drop off my passengers. I had to get the garden hose out and wash some of the mud off.
Then back to the shop to put the timing light on it and got the timing set. All of the test drive, the timing was sat at about 12 degrees after TDC! She liked it better at 4 before.
After lunch it will be time to wind the new winch cable on.
Life is good!
Tim
