Good thoughts.
I know that higher octane gas is slightly less volatile than regular, so if even if regular is o.k. with low compression engines like the flathead, maybe the mid grade or premium would be better relative to vapor lock?
I also have heard that the higher octane fuels have a better additive mix added and that might help with the fuel storage issues with the ethanol in the gas now.
That is what my Stihl mechanic is telling me that especially with the small engines; run 93 octane with fuel stabilizer added in the gas to help reduce the likelihood of carb problems.
