anyone here with knowledge of a material that could be attached to the manifold side of the heat shield to reduce reflected heat. in 20+ years of dodging, i encountered my first vapor lock condition. took the family about 45 mins ride with the command to the first sonic on long island. ran fine all the way there. got there and had to wait on a slow moving line for a spot in the drive in. while we were waiting, i was clutch in, clutch out. truck died. carb hot, fuel pump hot. i wet a rag with water and placed in on the carb. spilled some more water on it. same for the fuel pump. started fine after. figure if there was a better shield material, i would apply it. wife was impressed with my fix it ability, but i was not happy.
