100% full contact is needed prior to tightening
the u bolts. Take the top plate that sits on top of the spring and radius the corners slightly, until the bent U Bolt sits in 100% contact. Then go and torque them down.
Dont believe anyone that says torque will make the U Bolts round corners conform to the fklat top of the spring. Phooey. All my old iron has the top plate edges slightly rounded so the U Bolt is totally flaty prior to tightening.
