Ever think of it this way; an electric fuel pump will leave you stranded on the roadside if it quits working. You can replace the pump, get the system primed up and be on your way once again.
On the other hand; a mechanical pump will also leave you stranded if the diaphragm cracks or ruptures which is the most common cause of mechanical pump failure. It is also the gift that keeps on giving in that it offers free flow of gas directly into the oil pan where it readily blends with the oil to destroy bearings, crank, cam, etc in a very short time. You can then have the truck towed to your shop or favorite mechanic for an engine rebuild, and of course a new fuel pump.
Which scenerio would you rather deal with?
