I'd say it's been pretty moderate in the Northwest -- a long, wet winter but not super cold and no really big storms. We did have a strange setup here a week ago for a few days with a strong east wind blowing through Wallace, and a very strong early monsoon bringing lots of moisture up from the Gulf across the Great Basin and into the Columbia basin. That was due to a big slow-moving low off the coast that eventually made its way east and turned into the storm that caused all those tornadoes.

I suppose it all depends on where you are. Every year there's some place that gets the worst weather they've ever had. Even the old-timers who are alive today don't remember the bad blizzards and droughts that the old-timers who were old when I was a boy used to talk about. From what the climatologists say, the 20th century was unusually calm everywhere, weather-wise, and even if we just go back to having "normal" weather it will seem pretty harsh to those of us who grew up during an unnaturally calm spell.
