Why not do it the way the factory fixed paint booboos ? Take a razor blade and run it across a wet stone to create a tiny rolled edge on the blade . Then scrape off the high spots . I have done this and the neat thing is that none of the flat area is touched . I then buff .
The only problem I have seen is on occasion the density or orientation of the molecules in the drip is different than the rest of the paint . In certain light the run could be seen but it was dead flat with the rest of the surface .
