Hi Aaron,

Patient, cunning, and lucky you say! Hummm. I looked over the list of contacts and pictures I have collected over the past couple of years and not one had really good reasonably rust free sheet metal, good cab, dual brake system, syncro trans, re-enforced frame, radial stagger block Michelen tires, 251 engine (rebuilt by NATO), and so on for the 7K range. Therefore I agonized over this decision. VPW can tell you, I am sure they got very tired of my calls and questions. In the end I did get a good truck. Thanks and a "tip of the hat," to Ed in Chicago that looked all the trucks over and led me to #108.

I did get mine without the military bed so I mentally cost averaged and put that into a M601 bed (its in the mail). No matter what truck you get you are going to pay around 1-1.5K for bumper, extensions, and winch- if it does not have one. Do I have alot invested in my truck? yes, but I feel the value is there, and although I have no intention of selling, I believe I could easily get my money back.

Ok, ok I am not patient, I got bit by the bug that you guys did that now have about a half a dozen of these trucks apiece. All total I have always admired these since the red flatbed passed me in a cloud of smoke with a chrome flat bed on it in Orlando, Fla. years ago. Also on the way to work every day the billboard at the local utility company had one about 10'x20' staring at me every day.

You are right I am pretty new to the PW scene and have been serious looking for about two years. Only found the Forum and you guys about 7-8 months ago. Everyone seems to be ok except one guy who got really pissed that I did not buy his truck. I appologized to him and hope he does not have any hard feelings. Thanks for touching base...Al
