Robert,
After some serious number crunching, I think I have found you answer.
The U.S. contract Number is "W-374-ORD-2864"
the starting Serial number for this batch, of which 70,187 Wc's were produced, is 81601050. Yours is 81647340 of this batch. A differance of 46,290. Keep in mind that yours was the 46,290th of the line. At least that is the way I read it.
This shows to be a 1943 WC-52 with a U.S. Government Registration number of 2174675
( thats the number that is supposed to be on the hood/bumper). Keep in mind that I am not an expert at this stuff, so goto this web page ( www.powerup.com.au/~djr/ )and crunch the numbers for yourself. This is the Dodge motor pool web page. Very informative stuff.
In this batch, wc-52's wc-51's wc54's wc-57's and wc-60's were produced. The number of each is listed. I took the lowest U.S. registration number of this batch and added 46,290 to it while putting the U.S, registration numbers in sequential order and came up with the 2174675 Reg number.
Make sure you cross reference then information in the Registration section with the information in the Ordinance Data section. This will confirm that it is a 43' not a 42' I would tend to believe it was produced in the middle/end of 43'
E-mail me back if you find anything else out either way.
If anyone else knows of a differant way to figure this out please let us know, Thanks.
hope this helps.

Tom C.

42' WC-52
43' WC-51
43' WC-63
46' PW
54' PW
