The Perkins is an English built, worldwide distributed engine. The applications vary, Massey Ferg uses them in tractors, British Leyland uses them in their trucks, and Dodge used them in the 60s-early 70s in the PC/PD 500-600, and my rare 1964 PW300 Crew Cab.

I think you would be better off remaining with your Ford (Int'l) Diesel, save you a lot of headaches. The 6.354 was a common transplant engine used in the 70s-80s before the diesel was really promoted as a factory engine in Fords or Dodges.
