Black Beauty around these parts is an industrial byproduct. It is slag, leftover from steel manufactoring. I can by it from a concrete block supplier for less than I can buy blasting sand. I think about $4 a bag. It is more aggressive than silica but on a frame it doesn't bother me. Maybe on thin sheet metal it might be a problem.
