I don't think the headache rack is an option for me, with the 50 gal fuel tank right behind the cab. Not to mention, my bed is in really good shape, so I won't be cutting big holes in it. Also, a 12' a-frame will be just about right to get the height I'm looking for. I'm actually leaning towards close-tolerance sleeves with through-bolts two or three ways to "squeeze" the slop out of the joint. If the tubes are big enough (2" DOM?), I think it would work.
