I have recovered hundreds of vehicles with a 1 ton wrecker.Single wheels are always better in the mud, high skinny agressive self cleanin tread are best.I always have carried for a dead man or anchor a half dozen large truck axles with the spline end pointed + large maul for pounding into ground or between rocks + a aluminum folding boat anchor that also can be used for self recovery or changin direction.Real name brand snatch blocks + a lot of cable + chain + hard wood blocks + bottle jacks. Also all my rigs carry a good chain type come a long,The hand winch has gotten me out of a few tight spots over the years.Mud can be tricky creates a lot of suction take your time calculate your pulls + hang a heavy coat or blanket on the live end of a cable part ways down to take the whip out of it if something lets go.If outside controls try to crouch out of cable direction + listen carefully to the sound of the cable + blocks as you reel in the stuck vehicle.I have snapped a few cables + blowed up a few snatch blocks + pto u joints over the years but I usually did not have my pull or dead man at the right angle or did not jack + block up to clear stump or rock. You can get awfull hurt right quick workin with winchs + cable so be very carefull SAFETY IS your # 1 PRIORITY
