Thanks for the great compliments! When I paint a bed, I "cut in" the paint before assembly. In other words, paint the edges before I put the whole bed together. (yes, they are primed, and paint goes on with a small brush)Then I assemble it and paint it as a complete unit. That way the bolts, edges and everything else all looks unifrom. How it was done at the factory, I have no idea. But I usually see factory paint when taking them apart. Some beds, though, are not worth taking apart because when I get them, they are in excellent shape. It's the old theory of "don't fix it if it aint broke". Some things are better left alone, despite the fact you may think it will be a better job. There's alot of "frame-up" work out there that has not been taken apart fully just for that reason, and you would never know the difference. You need to know when to say no....leave it alone.
