Yep I had cracks there also but even more so at the bottom corners of the tailgate opening. The cracks on mine did not go under the drip rail. You can use a spot weld cutter to remove the drip rail if you want. Check to see if your corner supports in the body are broken or popped loose. I actually used a spot weld cutter and made a bunch of holes in body tailgate frame at the corners and welded the support back to the frame. I also welded one corner support that was cracked. When you weld things back up make sure that the tailgate opening is true and the tailgates will close correctly.

The cracking is due to the frame being fairly flexible while the body is not. In my carryall every corner of the tailgate opening and both door frames had cracks as well as the 4 corners of the windshield opening. The A and B pillars on each door were not connected to the floor at all. I had large cracks running into the roof at the rear of each door. The bottom corners of the tailgate were also broken completely. I have added additional support in some of these areas but I really expect cracks in the future as I do take the truck off road and the body does get flexed some.
