I've never liked those "battery disconnect" switches. They seem to get corroded a lot and fail to make good contact, at least when they're used to disconnect the battery over the winter. The who switch issue is simplified immensely if you use a cut-off switch or relay that wired into everything BUT the starter. having to make it heavy enough to carry starter current is a bugger, but carrying all the accessory and lighting loads is easy. 20-30 amps will usually do it. All the things that inadvertently drain the battery will get switched off by such a switch. The starter, all by itself, is not going to drain the battery. If it's security you're concerned about, a master "kill switch" that cuts off everything but the starter will be just as good of an anti-theft system as one that also does cut off the starter.
