I bought one a few years ago and was sort of dismayed at how complicated it was, like pretty much every computerized thing. Then I poked around on the Internet and found that someone had written a freeware program to control it from a computer and that made it WAY easier to setup, plus I can save and restore configurations. I don't really use the scanner much and probably shouldn't have bought it.
Anyway, google your model and something like "programming sofware" and you might find something. The scanner I have is a "uniden bearcat", and the sofware is called "bctool".
