Post a message on the hauling page of Yesterdays Tractors. There are plenty of guys with trailers out there scrambling to get a load. Seems like some of them are stuck somewhere trying to get a load to pay for fuel back home.
A couple of guys I talked to wanted to quit the hauling business because of fuel costs. As prices go up, fewer people are willing to have large vehicles hauled.
You have to be patient. You really have no choice. You work on the hauler's schedule. Not yours.
In the end, you will probably realize it's best to just pay up and have the truck hauled. Stay away from brokers (don't pay a deposit) and people who operate double deck car haulers. The double deck rigs aren't really equipped to handle FFPW's.
