The coil is labeled + and -. They will need to get swapped. Likewise all the wires on the ammeter, from one side to the other. Or it will read backwards. Change all the light bulbs to 12v, easy.

It will probable start fine with the ign from the switch to a ballast to the + of the coil.

I'm running a junkyard 3-wire GM alt, with only two wires hooked up. The big fat one from the back lug to the ammeter, and the red wire from the two wire plug, to ACC on a universal ign switch. If you have a brand spanking new alt, it needs that 3rd wire, the white one, hooked to a light bulb, to Ign on the switch. But old/rebuilts do fine as a 2-wire, but may take a minute to start putting out. The red two-wire ought to go as close as possible to the battery +, like right to it. It will assure 14v to where ever you put it, making up for any bad connections in the rest of the system. It's called the 'senser wire'.
