I thought it was strange back in 1980 when I did a valve job on a Honda CCVC. Head was gone to the machine shop. No ridge. I dropped the pan and pulled a piston. Pulled a ring to check for end gap, expecting to use the piston to push the ring down the bore. Ring fell right on through. That was my first experience of a low tension ring.

Honda started in business as a ring mfg. I guess he knew something. Like there is waaaay to much tension on most rings. It's the tension that wears the bore, much more than the compression pressure pushing the ring against the bore.

Good luck, I hope it is a pcv issue. OOoo, check the vent filter too, and plugged hoses. It sure was on a 72 /6 I bought for $150 and a case of beer. Sold it three weeks later for $300 and TWO cases. 1982 +/-.
