Well things may ease a bit in the near term, but we are getting a glimpse of the future. Oil production has or nearly has peaked, but demand is really climbing. You don't need to be a wizard to see what that means. Supply and demand ensures that prices must rise.
This country (all countries really) need to embrace the search and implementation of alternative and preferrably renewable energy sources. Oil gets used for lots of things besides cars, so using renewables in power plants etc ultimately eases the pressure on gas prices.
This problem isn't going away, get used to it or help solve it.
