I have a rebuilt 50's flat head 6 butt I'm wondering why the numbers have been ground off the motor. I've seen treads her about the motor numbers being removed from rebuilt motors. Anyone know why this is done? The only way I could really know what displacement I have is pull the head and measure the bore. I know its not a 251 because the block is 23" long, but is it a 218, or 230 I'll never know. The only thing I do know is it's rebuilt and runs great.
