But to give Dave a fair hearing, I discussed this in the local cafe this morning with farmers and ranchers here on the west side of Yellowstone Park.
Here in our area the problem really is not livestock vs the wolf, the ranchers admitted that there are more livestock deaths attributed to grizzly bear and moutain lion, than there is wolves.
The big problem is the wolves thinning out badly the elk and the deer populations.
We Idahoans pride ourselves in the way we manage the elk herds and keep a sustainable population.
But in the big eco-system way of life, what the wolf kills for sport, then the other scavengers come in and pick over the rest.
Now, if I were a sheep rancher in Central Idaho, then this discussion might be differant.
I just encourage Dave or anyone to do the homework and speak inteligently and support which ever side of the issue you decide to be on.
