You need a heavy, pressurized tank. It takes a lot of energy to compress natural gas to make it dense enough for an acceptable range travel before you have to refill. And it tanks a heavy-walled tank to hold a tank of gas pressurized to that degree. A CNG tank has to be much stouter than a LPG tank. Propane is a liquid, which makes it easier to store for tranportation and rural homes.
