I'm thinking about mounting a ps box outside the frame, and forward of the axle. My neighbor's '70 Blazer does it that way. Similar to the way Snake River does his M37 kit, but my pitman arm would be vertical. Box ought to be easy to locate in the junk yards, lots of '70s Chev 4x4s there. I'll have to move the shock to behind the axle, a minor detail. Lots of vehicles use staggered shocks. Drag link would need customization, cut, thread, use a tie rod end to a Chevy pitman arm perhaps. All this will allow greater leeway in the column mounting, like move it upwards away from my feet and the pedals.

Plus, there ought to be room for a vacuum booster and dual master in the place the box just vacated. My '51 frame had spacer brackets under the battery, maybe they would raise the battery above the steering box. Otherwise, battery to under the seat? It would need a sealed box vented through the floor?

Stoopid? Brilliant? Oxymoronic?
