Too much pump pressure, float set wrong, or a piece of crap under the inlet needle are possible causes of flooding. Most common cause of crap under the seat is cutting steel lines to add a filter, cutting being down with hack saw or dykes, ragged end of steel shreds lining of rubber hose, shreds cause much grief.

Jets won't be sooo fat they cause black smoke.

But if you really want to muck about with jetting, I've found that Quadrajet jets work but are too long. You can file them down or hold in vise grips and touch to a sander. Then use a fine tri-corner file to touch up the threads. Beware of screwing up the threads in the zinc carb body, you will be fubar if you do.

Careful, Too lean burns valves.
