My tranny started slipping under load on the way home from work yesterday. Revved like it hit neutral a few times, and acted like it would rather be parked. So I dropped the pan today, and found:
A spring and a ball bearing,
A few copper flakes,
And some debris stuck to the magnet.
No chunks. (Whew!)
The fluid was still red, but not as bright as fresh.
Nothing seemes out of the ordinary for a high mileage tranny, but I'm no expert. And I can't really give it a good look until the floor dry soaks up what the pan didn't catch. But based on what's in the pan, should I plan on dropping this thing for a rebuild (which I really don't want to do), or could I get away with finding where the spring belongs and putting it back together?
