My Dad, who sered in the Navy during WW 2 was stationed in Honolulu. He was forced to witness the burning of thousands of leather flight jackets, parachutes, and many other surplus supplies. Offers to buy these before destruction were dismissed. He did not witness any vehicle destruction, but knew of others that did...
