When stopping weight is transfered to the front. In a hard stop, great weight is transfered to the front. You want disks in the front where a greater majority of braking power takes place.

This is why when running Disk front and Drum rear or Disk-Disk, you need to use a proportion control valve. Without the proportion control valve, as weight is transfered forward the rear gets lighter. Being lighter the drum or disk will quickly lock up and slide. maximum barking is when the wheel is just at the point below lockup.
So the proportion control valve reduces the brake power on the rears so they dont lock in a hard stop.
