Have to go with David on this one. I did copper for my runs. Looked at the Aluminum system and it wasn't any cheaper than copper and could quickly get more expensive if I wanted more drops and pieces.

As David also pointed out it was a lot easier to install, and you can get just about any adapter/converter/connecter you want for it at any plumbing supply/big box store.

I did 3/4" main run with 1/2" drops. I ended all the main run with "T" fittings and caps so I could just cut the cap off and extend if I needed too.

The place I spent the real money though was in the accessories. I got a braided stainless pressure line to connect the pump to the wall piping for vibration isolation run into a full flow 3/4" filter assembly. Each drop also terminates in it's own filter/regulator assembly.

That way the main run sees tank pressure and I can have different pressures at each drop location. So my hose reel has an oiler and is set to run air tools while the drop to my blast cabinet has it's own filter/regulator set up for blasting, and the other drops can be changed as needed for doing tires/painting/powder coating etc.
