So far all the survivalists have died of something other than what they were preparing to survive. There were lots of survivalists living up the Rogue River in the 1960s planning to survive the nuclear war that never happened. I knew a guy 10 years ago who had a compound of 6 insulated shipping containers buried underground somewhere north of Spokane where he was going to survive something. I suppose it would be a good place to survive a hot summer day.
They have a lot of fun planning it all and buying all the stuff, but so far they always end up all dressed up with nowhere to go. The apocalypse doesn't happen, they get old, living in a bunker gets boring, and they re-join civilization. I've known some old hermits who lived way back in the woods, but the funny thing is none of them was a survivalist. They just didn't like people very much.
I hope they paid you for your truck in gold coin, because you know paper money isn't worth anything...
