Or was it the mid-engine chevy van, same era? What did they call that model- flat oval windshield, engine in a box with foot room in front? Box could be used as a middle seat.
Anyway, the switch had a boot, in an attempt to make it weatherproof. It was probably more dependable then the fluid pressure types. Dunno from fires, but they don't seem to hold up.
