The $200.00 tax stamp fee is a 1 time, not annual. The interesting thing is the fact that the $200.00 fee is probably the only tax that hasn't been increased since it's inception. In the 1930's a Thompson cost $150.00 so $200.00 was a huge amount. It doesn't seem like so much these days with Class III's beginning around 10K and the skies the limit from there. If the tax were modernized, it would probably be about $15,000.00! One reason why they are so expensive is the fact that sometime in the 1980's (84-86), legislation banned the further importation of fully auto weapons into the US, freezing the quantity of firearms at what was here then.
