We've probably covered this before, but the POLY "A" block is not wider than the later "LA". It only "looks" wider because the heads are larger, the block is the same dimension, just heavier to accommodate extra skirting for the extra POWER... = )
For your trivia game, the "LA" stands for "Light A". The LA wedge design is about 50 lbs lighter than the A Poly and about 100 lb ft of torque lighter as well.
