Hate to see that an American company acts that way, so many stories of this type of crap from Ford also. Just two weeks ago I took my 1999 Toyota Tacoma in because the frame had rust holes in it, I had first called the local dealership about it and the service writer said the 99 coverage had expired at the end of 2010. I then called Toyota Corp. and they started a case number for me, that was on a saturday, Monday morning a executive with the Toyota Care called and the first thing she asked me who told me my Toyota was not covered? I told her the Mex at the service desk at the local dealership, she told me my Tacoma was most certainly covered on the frame recall. she was very upset that I was told that, I then had to take the truck into the dealership and had it inspected and it indeed was the same frame rust damage that the recall was looking for, the manager at the dealership asked about the call I had made and got a negative response and I told him witch person I talked to and that was the last negative thing that happened every thing else from Toyota and the dealership was all positive. Anyway after the dealership inspected the truck and sent pictures to Toyota. Toyota then called back and offered to buy the 215,000 mile truck back and offered 8,610.00 for it over half of what I bought it for 12 years ago. They have treated me very well and Have gotten follow up calls and such from Toyota on this issue and I bought a new Tacoma and they have called and followed up on how I was treated at the local dealership etc. The Toyota executive that I had originally talked to also informed the dealership to retrain the Mex that works and the service desk. My son has a Ford truck that has the "TRICKaTRON" 5.4L v8 that blows spark plugs out of the heads and when Ford was sued about this problem they said it was the spark plugs that cause this and would not recall the trucks, but today if you buy a head from them it has already got heilicoils in the heads from the factory. They would not step up and fix these motor that have this design flaw! You could not give me a Ford with the 5.4L engine in it, crappy engine indeed! I am very happy with the Toyota that I had and I'm sure I'll be happy with the new truck as well. Fleabag!!
