Don't be so sure they've lost you as a customer

I think you might want to check out all their new vehicles. I'm sure you have a neighbor or friend who has a passel of dirty ill-mannered children she'd be glad to be rid of for a day -- you know, the ones who climb all over everything, never do what they're told, throw tantrums when they don't get what they want, etc. Borrow a mini-van full of them and stop by the ice cream store on the way to the dealership. Buy them all double-scoops of ice cream with fudge. Do this on a Saturday when the showroom is full of customers. Go in and start looking at the cars. Tell the kids to take their ice cream cones and go have fun. If you see anyone looking at a truck like yours, especially if the salesman is already with them, be sure to tell him you had one with the same engine, and then tell him how the manager of that particular dealership treated you when the engine got blown due to his mechanic's screw-up.

If anyone asks if they can help you (you know the tone, where "May I help you?" means "WTF do you want?"), tell them you're there to talk to the manager. When they say he's busy, tell them you're not and you and your kids will be happy to wait, though your kids are getting a little bit antsy. Maybe loudly chat up some more customers and tell them that the manager is too busy to talk to you, now that he has your money. If you do get to talk to him, tell the manager exactly what you asked him to do in the first place, replace your engine. You get the idea. Make a day of it. Eventually they will tell you to leave, which of course you will do. By that point you will have easily cost them several sales and a substantial cleaning bill. If you get a chance to say any parting words to the manager, remind him that one never wins a fight with a customer.
