i have had tremendous success with them in all of my hobby vehicles. in my use, they can sit forever and fire up when needed. after having to replace the battery box in the m37 and the runningboard on the command car, i believe that the non leak benefit of the optima is worth the extra price. they are spiral wound and need no maintenance. you can orientate them in any position to fit your application. everyone will have an opinion, but in my use, i usually get about 6-8 years out of them. by boat gets regular lead acid interstate batteries. lots of charging / discharging on the boat + the off season eats em up in about 3 years. optima doesnt come in the huge sizes needed for my diesel boat and electronics "house" boat needs. mannyc
