I used to use a chain saw to cut around the bottom of the stump [roots] but it took a toll on the saw blade [dirt] [rocks] I then got a sawzall it works great and blades are easy to change out. I back my old 55 CJ-5 and in low range give a yank and its out. We use the stump wood in our outside fire pit. The boys love the glow. Have Fun. Bill.
