I that's all correct. I seem to recall that there is no breaker at all in the ignition circuit. Perhaps the theory was that if the truck stops running, the soldiers die, so better to keep the truck running no matter what the damage, even if the ignition wire burns up eventually than have it stop due to a tripped breaker. Or perhaps they were just economizing. Anyway, if he shorted out the ignition wire, that could have caused a good arc.

What puzzles me is that on a stock M37 there are no hot terminals exposed on anything except the batteries themselves and the starter. If he shorted something else with the wrench, I'm thinking this truck must not have stock wiring, in which case anything is possible.
