make it clear to the dog that it is low man on the totem pole. he should be the last family member that you, and other pack members acknowledge, when entering a room. If he's a runner he will not settle for low status. he will rest up, fuel up and resume his journey. if he is truely lost and willing to accept low status, you can be pretty sure he has nowhere else to turn.
