Greg in Montana began a series of discussions on the forum about “greedy” truck owners and parts hoarders. He expressed that these folks, often paying Joe to advertise their trucks / parts were somehow taking advantage or gouging others in their attempt to dispose of their items in a free market setting. These sellers set a price that they would be willing to sell their truck or part. No harm, no foul as far as I can tell by posting a sales advert. In addition, last time I checked, no one is forced to buy something they do not want to purchase or cannot afford. Several times, Greg has ‘called out’ people trying to sell here – the 69k power wagon, the expensive fenders the power wagon that was bought recently and is being resold.

Whether he knows it or not it is poor form to pick apart another’s vehicle for sport. Don’t like the 69k power wagon at 69k? Call the guy and offer what you can afford. No deal? Move on. Think the guy is hoarding fenders and you cannot wait until Matt makes his repros so the hoarder will get his ‘just desserts’ for holding and selling hard to find items? The guy buying and selling the power wagon for more than he bought is somehow evil because he is trying to resell a truck for more than he paid? What is the harm done to you?

You commented on how others are more “gready"– your spelling- than you and you are happy to run a small business and charge a ‘fair’ price. Maybe your price is not ‘fair’ to some and they see you as ‘gready’ or gouging for charging enough to be able to ‘sleep at night.’ Maybe your employees see you as greedy for not paying them more? Maybe they are jealous of you?

You also stated that greedy people caused the trouble our country is in.

I stated below in a response to you, and I believe that the collapse was caused by stupid people. People who could not afford a McMansion took a shot and got burned. People who struggled making rent, bought houses without the means to carry them. Banks were encouraged by the govt to push home ownership downstream and relax standards for subprime purchasers. It was not due to greed, but rather the group think stupidity that created the ‘home ownership is a right' school of thought. If you are purchasing a house, a truck or a fender you should be responsible for being an informed purchaser. To your point, people have been getting, sick, divorced, fired, etc. for eons. That did not cause the housing collapse, stupid people did. Profit has always and will always be the prime motivator in a free market society - you may misconstrue it as greed. I know you wanted to be ‘done with the topic’ but you can’t throw a grenade and walk away…
