The only Honda I was ever inside of was back in 1980. 150K, no ridges. So I took a ring off to check end gap, and it fell through the bore. No tension. Did you know that Honda started as a ring manufacturer? So I got thinking about ring tension- maybe there ought not be so much? Is it possible that Detroit had been building in all that tension unnecessarily, wearing rings and bore, casign friction and energy loss, when the combustion pressure is adequate to seal?
