Tell me if I need a reality check. I pulled the head off my 91 honda car yesterday because it burned a valve. The only machine shop here in the valley is closed for the winter so I'm going to have to take it to a shop in Cd'A. The guy quoted me $230 plus parts to do the head. Last time I had a honda head done it was $120. I think for that price I'll let him scrape all the old gaskets off and clean it up. I usually at least go over them with a paint brush and gasoline and scrape the gaskets off before I take them in, but if I'm paying for them to do it, I guess I'll let them do it.

Is this the going rate these days? The gasket sets $125 too. And then there's another $60 for gas in my pickup to go to and from Cd'A twice. I guess I'm an old timer, talking about how much everything costs these days.
