I would swap him in a heart beat ! Since you can do the work, you can save tremendous money. The disk brakes are worth roughly $1500, the B5.9 Cummins depending on condition is worth $1500 and up. You will love a Diesel in the PW. I put Cummins in all my Old Iron. While I use the B3.9 due to size and weight, the B5.9 will be fine. You probably will have to build a dog house in the cab to handle where the fire wall probably was cut to fit the B5.9.

You have work ahead of you, but nothing that cant be handled quite easily. You did not mention the transmission and if the differentials are 5.83 or 4.89. Depending on you intended use determines the tranny and differential ratio to use.

To fire up the B5.9, you only need to supply power to the fuel shut off solenoid and power to the starter. The fuel solenoid gets power to open and with removal of power is closes and shuts down the engine. I would be happy to help you where I can. You also should talk with Bob in Illinois who is on this forum. Bob did a beautiful B5.9 conversion and is a super resource for help.

If this deal was in my lap, I would be drooling.
