You should put a Jake brake on it. Use 1/2 of a 6V53 set. You only need 3" additional height to clear the spacer that goes between the valve cover and the head. I had a 71 GMC 1 ton with a 3-53 and Jake brake. Sounded really great under power and neater yet with the jake. It would hold the truck and a loaded trailer back going down Snoqualamie pass. If you build another one, consider building a 3-53T. They were 140hp stock as I recall. Great looking rig you have!
