It is well known that the 6bt is much smoother than the 4bt. I think many of us have dreamed of a 6bt-powered Power Wagon. There is just something intrinsically "truck" about an in-line six. Four-cylinders are for tractors, right?

With that said, the 4bt is a much better choice for a Power Wagon. Not just because it fits, but because it can develop more than enough power. Mike can tell you how easy it is to break an axle with 270 lb-ft of 4bt torque. The extra weight of the 6bt would be more of a curse than a blessing.

My wife may complain about the noise of the 4bt in the Wagoneer, but I love the sound of the 4bt in Mike's M37 and Bruce Buerk's 1/2-ton WC.

I abandoned my dreams of putting a Cummins in a Power Wagon for no more reason than metric bolts mixed with DPCD script bolts just didn't sit right with me. Does that make me a purist?

My Carryall is going to remain a flathead. I'm building another 4bt Wagoneer and a 4bt in an FC Jeep. The cabin cruiser is getting two 6bts. If I can't get the Nissan Diesel to produce real power in a Scout, it may get a 4bt, too. The Carryall is the only thing sacred in my fleet. Although, a bolt-in Hercules Diesel kit would intrigue me. Is MARS still in business? I couldn't find their website.
