I think the worst pickup / engine overweight combination I ever saw was in the late 80's. A local guy in Ellensburg WA had a 6V53 Detroit W/500 series allison stuffed in a 70/71 GMC 3/4 ton 4wd pickup. Just about everthing was cut out somewhere to make room. He couldn't figure out why the stock u joints (among other things) kept breaking - go figure!
